GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND EXPECTATIONS: CREATIVE EUROPE MEDIA AFTER 2021

The MEDIA Sub-programme of Creative Europe is designed to support European film and other audiovisual industries. It has been created with the purpose of providing funding for the development, promotion and distribution of European works within Europe and beyond. Within the broader question "What lies in the future for the European film industry?", Astra Film DokTank schedules an open discussion about the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme support with a focus on film festivals. We shall hear about the Media-Creative Europe guidelines for 2021 - 2027 from our guest speaker, Irina Sofletea, and then the floor is open to festival directors/programmers/representatives to voice their own concerns and ideas.
The discussion will be in English and will happen online via zoom, on Wednesday 21 october 2020, 17:00 CET.

Guest Speaker: Irina Sofletea Irina Sofletea is a Policy Officer in the European Commission. She has worked for Creative Europe MEDIA, the EU programme designed to support European film and audio-visual industries, since 2016.

Acasa My Home: a case study

With Radu Ciorniciuc (director) Discussion moderated by Ionut Mares.

Since it premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January 2020, the film Acasa My Home has travelled at many film festivals around the world and received multiple awards. As one of the most successful Romanian films of recent years, Acasa represents a model of pursuing a project from idea and inception to its conclusion. The discussion with director Radu Ciorniciuc will explore the film’s trajectory from the initial idea to its successful distribution.

Acasa My Home was presented as part of Astra Film DokTank 2018, where it received the Romanian Docs in Progress Award for postproduction.

The discussion, which will be moderated by film critic and festival programmer Ionut Mares, will be followed by a Q&A
